Barbara Craig Liu is a dancer, actress and filmmaker based in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon graduating high school, Barbara received professional dance training with Balletmet, Columbus, Europa Ballett Sankt Pölten in Austria, and The Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet in Philadelphia. She went on to dance professionally with companies such as the Kunyang Lin/Dancers, Bryan Koulman Contemporary Dance, Nora Gibson Contemporary Ballet, and Verb Ballets, in addition to performing freelance work by choreographers such as Wally Carbonell, Asya Zlatina, Anni Gavino, Liu Mo and Weiwei Ma. Her own choreographies, II and Temp3st, have been presented as part of the 38th Inhale series at the Chi Arts Center. At 18, Barbara won the Dobama Young Playwrights competition and continues to be passionate about writing and performing her own work. Following the start of the pandemic, Barbara returned to school at Cleveland State University, where she is scheduled to receive her BA in filmmaking in the fall of 2022. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and German, Barbara is passionate about language and performance in all its forms. In addition to her studies, she continues to teach ballet and to be a certified Gyrotonic Method Instructor. She lives in Shaker Heights, Ohio with her husband, Mo, and their young son, Eason.
